In 2011, a Christian broadcaster named "Family Radio" spent more than 100 million dollars promoting founder Harold Camping's prediction that the rapture would occur on May 21, 2011. Billboards, broadcasts, and caravans across the United States warned people that Judgment Day was coming on that date. When nothing happened, the group held a press conference on May 23. Officials said they would not return any of the donated money, stating, "We're not at the end. Why would we return it?"
