In 1990, Star Trek: The Next Generation aired "The High Ground," where Data mentions an Irish reunification in 2024 achieved through terrorism. The BBC deemed the reference and the episode's violence too sensitive during the Troubles and chose not to broadcast it; RTÉ also skipped it during the show's initial run.
