Dominique Dunne's Real Bruises

In 1981, actress Dominique Dunne was set to guest star on Hill Street Blues as an abused teenager in the "Requiem for a Hairbag" episode. The day before filming, her boyfriend brutally assaulted her, leaving visible bruises on her face. When she arrived on set, producers saw her and decided to continue filming without makeup, so the injuries seen in the episode were her real ones. By the time the episode aired, that same boyfriend had killed her, and the episode was dedicated to her memory.
