John Forsythe's Midnight Call-Up

John Forsythe's Midnight Call-Up

When the pilot of Charlie's Angels was being finished in 1976, the actor originally cast as the mysterious voice of Charlie showed up too drunk to record his lines. Being desperate, creator Aaron Spelling phoned John Forsythe in the middle of the night to fill in. Forsythe agreed, recorded all the dialogue from his home studio, went back to bed, and unknowingly landed a role he would voice for the next five years.
