In 1992, heavyweight boxer Tim "Doc" Anderson fought Mark Gastineau in Oklahoma City. He later said the sweet-tasting water he was given before the bout meant the corrupt boxing promoter Rick "Elvis" Parker had doped him to make him lose. He survived, and in 1995, Anderson confronted Parker in Orlando and shot him dead. Police arrested Anderson at the scene, and a Florida jury later convicted him of premeditated murder. He is serving life in prison. The case unfolded as Parker faced accusations of fight fixing and FBI scrutiny in the early 1990s.
