Beethoven and Brotherly Conflict

Ludwig van Beethoven and his brother Johann had a tense relationship. When Johann announced plans to marry his housekeeper, Beethoven objected so strongly he attempted to involve legal authorities. After Johann purchased an estate and signed a letter "your brother Johann, landowner," Beethoven retorted with "your brother Ludwig, brain owner."
