Xin Xin: Mexico's Lone Panda

Xin Xin, the giant panda, lives at the Chapultepec Zoo in Mexico City and is the only giant panda in the world not owned by China. She was born in 1990 to two pandas that China gifted to Mexico before it changed its policy to loan pandas instead of giving them. Because she was born before the loan system began, Xin Xin remains under Mexican ownership.
