France's 1968 Strike Shakes Nation

In May 1968, about 10 million workers, nearly two-thirds of France's workforce, joined a nationwide strike. The shutdown stopped factories, transportation, and public services across the country. The massive unrest paralyzed France for weeks and came close to overthrowing the government.
