Nancy Brophy: The "How to Murder" Author

In 2018, Nancy Crampton Brophy, a self-published romance novelist, was convicted of fatally shooting her husband, Daniel Brophy, in the kitchen of the Oregon Culinary Institute. She had previously published a 2011 essay titled "How to Murder Your Husband," which prosecutors said revealed her mindset and provided a chilling blueprint. Investigators linked her to the crime through surveillance footage, gun-part purchases, and evidence of financial motive, including life insurance claims. She was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
