In the early 1960s, Australian serial killer Eric Edgar Cooke, known as the "Night Caller," terrorized Perth with a string of murders and random shootings. After one killing, he hid his rifle in a nearby bush, unaware that police had already found it. Investigators cleverly returned the weapon to the same spot, attaching it to a fishing line and setting up a hidden surveillance post. Seventeen days later, Cooke returned to retrieve the rifle and was immediately arrested, bringing an end to one of Australia's most chilling murder sprees.
