Mark Twitchell: The Real-Life Dexter

In 2008, Canadian filmmaker Mark Twitchell became obsessed with the TV series Dexter and tried to live out its premise in real life. He posed as a woman online to lure men to a garage he had outfitted as a "kill room," intending to become a serial killer. Twitchell murdered Johnny Altinger, but his second intended victim escaped and alerted police. When investigators uncovered detailed files about his crimes, Twitchell was arrested and sentenced to life in prison.
