In January 2007, Boston police mistook LED light boards of Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters for explosive devices. The guerrilla ads, placed under bridges and on buildings to promote the show, triggered a massive bomb-squad response. The scare cost the city an estimated $2 million and led to public backlash against both the marketers and Cartoon Network.
