In 2009, a 500 KB worm called Stuxnet was deployed against Iran's Natanz nuclear facility, making history as the first cyberweapon to cause real physical destruction. Widely attributed to a joint U.S.-Israeli operation, the malware spread through infected USB drives to breach Natanz's air-gapped network. Once inside, it reprogrammed centrifuges used to enrich uranium, destroying about 1,000 machines while feeding false data to operators. Hilariously, it was even configured to blast AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" on infected systems at midnight.
