Pentium FDIV Bug Costs Intel $475M

In 1994, a flaw in the floating-point unit of Intel's original Pentium processors led to errors in certain division calculations. For example, dividing 4,195,835 by 3,145,727 produced an incorrect result because of missing entries in the chip's lookup table. The highly publicized bug forced Intel into a massive recall that cost the company an estimated $475 million.
