In 1998, Bungie discovered a critical flaw in its strategy game "Myth II: Soulblighter" just as copies were being shipped to retailers. The bug was hidden in the uninstaller program, which accidentally deleted much more than the game itself and could erase the entire hard drive if the game was installed in the root directory. To prevent disaster, Bungie recalled about 200,000 copies of the game before release and issued fixed versions.
