Andrew Jackson's 100 Recorded Quarrels

In 1828, surgeon Dr. James L. Armstrong-who had served alongside Andrew Jackson in the War of 1812-compiled a record of the president's violent altercations. He documented nearly 100 incidents of quarrels, duels, and fights that Jackson either caused or participated in. Jackson's infamous temper and readiness to fight became a defining part of his reputation.
