Progress and Poverty Shaped Economics

Henry George's 1879 book Progress and Poverty became one of the most widely read works of economics in history. At its peak, it ranked second only to the Bible in global readership and earned praise from figures such as Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, and Leo Tolstoy. Though largely forgotten today, the book shaped debates on land reform and inspired the "single tax" movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
