Leonidas of Rhodes, an ancient Greek runner, dominated the Olympics of the 2nd century BCE by winning 12 individual titles across four consecutive Games. He competed in three footraces-the stadion, the diaulos, and the hoplitodromos-at each Olympiad between 164 and 152 BCE. His record for the most individual Olympic victories stood unmatched for more than 2,100 years until Michael Phelps surpassed it in 2016.
