Ainhum is a rare medical condition in which the little toe begins to constrict spontaneously at the base, eventually leading to auto-amputation. The cause remains unknown, though the condition has been documented primarily in people living in tropical regions, especially West Africa and South America. Over time, the tightening groove deepens until the toe falls off, typically within five years of onset.
