Star Trek TNG Flute Auction Surprise

In the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Inner Light" (1992), Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart, lives an entire lifetime in a dreamlike state and learns to play a simple alien flute. The prop, known as Picard's Ressikan flute, became one of the most beloved artifacts from the series. When Christie's auctioned it in 2006 as part of a large Star Trek memorabilia sale, it was expected to fetch only $300, but a bidding war drove the final price to $48,000.
