Seinfeld's O.J. Name Coincidence

In the Seinfeld episode The Masseuse (1993), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) tries to persuade her boyfriend, Joel Rifkin, to change his name because it matches that of a notorious serial killer. She jokingly suggests "O.J." as an alternative, referencing football star O.J. Simpson. Just seven months later, Simpson was arrested and put on trial for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman in what became one of the most infamous cases of the 1990s.
