In 2011, FOX threatened to cancel The Simpsons (1989-present) unless production costs were reduced. To save the show, the main voice cast-including Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria, and Harry Shearer-agreed to a 30% pay cut. Even after the reduction, each actor still earned around $300,000 per episode, making them among the highest-paid voice actors in television history.
