Game of Thrones' Rocky Start

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the creators of Game of Thrones (2011-2019), had no prior experience in television and only limited backgrounds in screenwriting. Their original pilot for Game of Thrones was infamously disastrous. Test audiences found it confusing and poorly executed, prompting HBO to order a massive overhaul. As a result, about 90% of the pilot was reshot, several actors were recast, and the revised version became the launchpad for one of the most successful series in television history.
