Great White Shark's Brief Captivity

In 2016, the first adult great white shark to be exhibited by an aquarium-an 11.5-foot male-died after just three days in captivity at the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium in Japan. The shark refused to eat and became visibly weak, eventually sinking to the bottom of the tank, with experts speculating that the stress of captivity and unsuitability of enclosed environments likely led to its death.
