Saudia Flight 163 safely landed in Riyadh in 1980 after a fire broke out in the cargo hold shortly after takeoff from Karachi en route to Jeddah. The Lockheed L-1011 TriStar landed successfully, but the crew failed to evacuate the aircraft, and all 301 passengers and crew died of smoke inhalation before rescue teams could open the doors. Experts believe that a passenger's stove or fuel container in the luggage caused the fire.
