Flamboyant Cuttlefish

Native to the tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific region, the flamboyant cuttlefish is one of the most vibrant invertebrates, capable of producing adult camouflage patterns from birth. Despite its beauty, it contains tetrodotoxin-a potent neurotoxin as dangerous as that of the blue-ringed octopus-in its muscle tissue. While its dazzling colors signal warning, handling or consuming this cuttlefish can be extremely dangerous.
