The Candiru is a parasitic fish that is rumored to "jump" into human urethras, where it will remain until surgically removed. Although the odds of being attacked by a Candiru-often dubbed the "penis invading fish"-are said to be about the same as being struck by lightning while simultaneously being eaten by a shark, such attacks are medically documented and feared in the region. Its diet typically consists of fish blood, and it homes in on urea and ammonia in the water.
