In 2007, Siberia experienced an unusual snowfall-orange snow. Scientists determined that a massive sandstorm in neighboring Kazakhstan likely caused the event. Tests revealed high concentrations of sand, clay dust, and iron particles, which had been carried into Russia's upper atmosphere before falling with the snow.
