The Mountain Meadows Massacre (1857)

On September 11, 1857, in Utah Territory, the Mormon militia and their Native American allies attacked a wagon train of emigrants traveling to California. They massacred 120 men, women, and children. Only 17 children under the age of seven were spared. The Mormons looted the victims' belongings and sold them locally at auctions for profit.
