Caracalla's Massacre of Alexandria (AD 215)

In 215 A.D., Roman Emperor Caracalla ordered the massacre of prominent citizens in Alexandria, Egypt. This was in retaliation for a satire mocking his rise to power. Thousands were killed, and the city was plundered.
