The Red Ghost was a legendary demonic figure that terrorized Arizona in the late 1800s and reportedly killed a woman. It later turned out to be a feral camel with the decaying corpse of a man strapped to its back, likely a remnant of Jefferson Davis's experiment to create a camel division for the U.S. Army.
