U-507 Brazil Incident

The German U-boat U-507 almost single-handedly drew Brazil into World War II. Patrolling the South Atlantic in 1942, it torpedoed and sank multiple Brazilian passenger ships. It sank five ships between August 16 and 17, taking over 600 civilians with them. Brazil declared war on Germany on August 22.
