Diogenes Defended Public Masturbation Philosophically

When confronted, he replied, "If only it were as easy to banish hunger by rubbing my belly." He also jokingly credited the Greek god Hermes with inventing masturbation to relieve his son Pan's unfulfilled desire for Echo.
