Tromso Hosts World's Northernmost University

The University of Tromso, officially UiT The Arctic University of Norway is the world's northernmost university. Norway's parliament established it in 1968, and it opened in 1972 before expanding across northern Norway. It had 3,776 staff in 2021 and 16,204 students in 2024.
