Wang Diange's Exploding Cremation Mystery

Wang Diange's Exploding Cremation Mystery

In 2005, a Chinese man named Wang Diange was thought to have died from a lightning strike in Inner Mongolia. When his body exploded during cremation, investigators found a piece of metal in the furnace. They traced it to an unexploded weather shell fired to prevent hail; it had fallen through Wang's roof and struck him. The local weather bureau later paid his family more than 80,000 yuan in compensation.
