When Jimi Hendrix played London's Bag O'Nails club on November 25, 1966, the audience included Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and members of the Beatles and Rolling Stones. Singer-songwriter Kevin Ayers recalled hearing stunned exclamations of "shit," "Jesus," and "damn" from them.
