During production of The Devil Wears Prada, most fashion designers and industry figures reportedly refused cameo appearances because they feared angering Vogue editor Anna Wintour, widely believed to have inspired Miranda Priestly. Wintour allegedly warned major designers that Vogue would banish them if they participated, although her representatives denied this claim. Valentino Garavani and Heidi Klum still appeared as themselves, while Wintour later said she enjoyed the film and particularly praised Meryl Streep's performance.
