China's First Penis Transplant Reversed

The first man to receive a penis transplant underwent the procedure at Guangzhou General Hospital in China in 2006 after losing most of his penis in an accident. Surgeons spent 15 hours attaching an organ donated by the family of a 22-year-old brain-dead man. Although the transplant developed a healthy blood supply and allowed the recipient to urinate normally, doctors removed it after just two weeks because he and his wife experienced what the surgical team called a "severe psychological problem." An examination found no signs that his body had rejected the organ.
