Falkland Warrah's Tameness Hastened Extinction

The first canid known to have been driven to extinction by humans in modern history was the Falkland Islands wolf, or warrah, the islands' only native land mammal. Historical accounts describe warrahs as so tame that they swam out to greet approaching boats and took meat from people's hands. Settlers hunted them for fur and poisoned them as supposed threats to sheep, while their lack of fear made them easy to approach and kill. The last known warrah was killed in 1876.
