Challenger Deep Expedition Found Rubbish

During the 2019 Five Deeps Expedition, American explorer Victor Vescovo piloted the submersible Limiting Factor to Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, the deepest known point in the world's oceans. At approximately 10,927 meters, he encountered a plastic bag and sweet wrappers on the seabed. In 2022, American oceanographer Dawn Wright joined Vescovo on another descent to test deep-sea sonar and map the same area. They found an intact beer bottle resting at Challenger Deep, confirming that human rubbish had reached the deepest point in the ocean.
