Shoushiling Predated Modern Rock-Paper-Scissors Game

The earliest known written mention of a Rock, Paper, Scissors-style game came from Ming-dynasty writer Xie Zhaozhe around 1600. He called the Chinese hand game shoushiling and claimed it dated back to the Han dynasty, which lasted from 206 BCE to AD 220. Chinese hand games later reached Japan, where the familiar rock, paper, and scissors version emerged during the late 19th century.
