Stig Broeckx Rediscovered Himself Online

In May 2016, Belgian professional cyclist Stig Broeckx suffered severe brain damage when two motorbikes ran into the descending peloton during the Tour of Belgium. His heart temporarily stopped, doctors placed him in an induced coma, and later medical updates described him as minimally conscious with no hope of recovery. His family transferred him to a pioneering coma center in Liege, and by 2019 he could walk with a cane and cycle recreationally. Broeckx had lost all memory of the five years before the accident, so he searched the internet to learn about his own professional cycling career.
