Se7en's Ending Survived Studio Interference

Studio interference almost forced American screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker to replace Se7en's bleak ending, which involved Tracy's severed head arriving in a box. After Penta Film demanded a more mainstream conclusion, Walker produced 13 drafts, including one in which Tracy survived. New Line Cinema later sent director David Fincher the original script by mistake, and Fincher refused to direct the revised version. Support from the production president and Brad Pitt ultimately helped preserve the ending released in 1995.
