Nazis Protected Warburg's Cancer Research

German cancer researcher and Nobel laureate Otto Heinrich Warburg remained in Berlin and continued his work under Nazi rule despite his Jewish ancestry and openly being homosexual. He was banned from teaching and briefly dismissed in 1941, but Hitler's Chancellery ordered his reinstatement within weeks. The Nazis valued his cancer research partly because Hitler, whose mother had died from breast cancer, was obsessed with finding a cure for this disease.
