Russell Crowe Recommended Hugh Jackman

Australian actor Russell Crowe was director Bryan Singer's first choice to play Wolverine in the 2000 film X-Men. Crowe declined the role but recommended his friend and fellow Australian actor Hugh Jackman. Producers initially cast Dougray Scott, but scheduling conflicts with Mission: Impossible 2 forced him to withdraw shortly before filming. Jackman then received the part that transformed him from a little-known actor into an international star.
