Brandon Garrett's Dog Alerted Family

In June 2024, a man named Brandon Garrett missed a curve while driving with his four dogs on U.S. Forest Service Road 39 in Baker County, Oregon, sending his truck into a ravine near a creek. One dog ran nearly four miles through the wilderness to the family's campsite, arriving at 9:30 a.m. and alerting relatives that something was wrong. The family found Garrett's truck but could not reach him, so rescuers cut a path with chainsaws and descended with a rope and rescue blanket. They recovered Garrett about 100 yards from the crash with his three other dogs alive, then transported him to a hospital.
