Scottish Invaders Carried Plague Home

The Black Death reached England in 1348, and the Scots were quick to seize the opportunity to hit their weakened neighbor. In 1349 a Scottish army gathered in the Forest of Selkirk to invade England, but the plague descended on the camp and killed some 5,000 soldiers. The survivors fled back over the border, taking the infection with them. By 1350 the disease had spread to all of Scotland and killed a large part of its population.
