McDonald's Food Matched Sports Supplements

McDonald's Food Matched Sports Supplements

A 2015 study found that after a 90-minute endurance workout, 11 highly trained male athletes showed no differences in insulin, glucose, cholesterol, or triglyceride levels whether they recovered with sports supplements or McDonald's food. The supplement meals included organic peanut butter, Clif Shot Bloks, Gatorade, Cytomax powder, and PowerBars, while the fast-food meals contained hotcakes, orange juice, a hash brown, a hamburger, fries, and Coke. Both diets provided roughly equal calories, carbohydrates, and protein, and each athlete returned one week later to try the other diet. The athletes also completed a 20-kilometer cycling trial equally quickly, with no significant difference in muscle glycogen recovery.
