Gluten-Free Diets Are Not Healthier

Despite its popularity, a gluten-free diet is not inherently healthier for people without celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, or another medical reason to avoid gluten. Replacing refined breads, pastas, and cookies with fruits and vegetables may improve a diet, but processed gluten-free substitutes often contain less fiber, vitamins, and minerals than their gluten-containing counterparts.
