Bibasis Made Butt Kicking Competitive

Spartan men and women competitively performed bibasis, a gymnastic dance in which they rapidly leaped from the ground and kicked their own buttocks with their heels to music. Judges counted each successful strike and awarded prizes to the most skilled dancers. An ancient epigram preserved by Pollux records a Laconian girl winning after performing the move 1,000 times, more than anyone had previously achieved.
